Hi friends,

Last February, I fell in love with Sheila Chandra's singing and her "Om Namaha Shiva", and recently I've been practicing a LOT of yoga with a wonderful yoga teacher on Youtube called Ariane (@YogaCoaching) and her yoga session and podcast about Ganesh inspired me to create a melody for the mantra Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha.

So singing mantras has become a key element to my musical and well-being practice : it helps with musical creativity, toning, breathing, harmonies and just clears my mind. I've used mantras as well in my singing classes and my students love this practice as a warm-up.

I love creating these melodies as I walk in the woods and finding harmonies that bring another layer of meaning to the mantra and to the melody. Once I have the melody steady, I usually start working on the harmonies with the bass line, and add a higher voice. Nothing is written, it's all about trial and error, experimenting, listening, adjusting. And I love it.

Want to try drumming? You can Start now with virtual drums! Online platforms offer accessible and fun ways to engage with percussion. Typically, you use your keyboard to play different parts of the drum set – kick, snare, toms, cymbals. It’s a fantastic way for beginners to learn about rhythm and beat construction, or for anyone to just enjoy making some noise and experimenting with grooves. The immediate feedback and the ability to play along with music can make it a very enjoyable and educational experience, all without the cost or space requirements of a physical drum set.
